Finding My Muchness

About a year ago, I found this:

Finding My Muchness

And for the past 12 months I keep thinking alternate thoughts:

“I probably don’t have any muchness to find.”

“What’s the use of trying? I’m too tired, too stressed, to defeated to bother finding my muchness.”

“I have new things that make me muchy. I quilt. I’m gardening. I can get by without the old me.”

Finally, I came to the conclusion that while I’ve found new things that make me “muchy” – I miss the parts of me that used to make up so much of my muchness. Like wearing clothes I actually like. Putting on make-up. Brushing my hair. Reading classic literature, playing classical music, and cooking great food. I miss these things about myself, and I think part of finding my “muchness” is rediscovering things that used to play a major part in my life.

If you’re familiar with Echoing Footsteps, you know how I lost my muchness. As much as I’ve tried to deny it, there are missing muchy parts of me.

So I’ve decided to take Tova’s Finding My Muchness 30 Day Challenge. I’ve decided that for the next 30 days, I will be putting a little muchness back in my life but incorporating a little flute music into every day. Whether I intentionally listen to it , practice, perform, or try to learn new a technique.  – at least 15 minutes every day I will do something to bring music back into my life.

Today was Day 1: I practiced for 30 minutes! I spent a bit of time on Hoffmeister, Telemann, and Honegger. It’s hard hearing myself sound not even close to my peak, but it felt so good to have my keys under my fingers again.

Wish me luck! I’ll try to keep you updated with photos on Instagram – which you can see on the side bar of my blog, or by friending me on Facebook or following me on Twitter (@alszambrano) or Instagram (alszambrano) – and by occasionally posting updates.

  1. My music therapist heart is coming alive thinking about this. Excited to hear more about your journey with music, and the places that it will take you. Can’t wait to read about what you’re learning. 🙂

  2. Yeah, Miss Amanda!! Those who love you will joyfully welcome each muchy addition!! Those who don’t know you well will recognize “something” even if they don’t understand what it is!
    love, mom

  3. Just the fact that you want the muchness back is a great step forward! Starting with music is even better. Love you.
